Bert Weedon: The Essential Recordings
Music CD
2-CD COLLECTION
40 TRACKS on two CDs
Bert Weedon, (Herbert Maurice William Weedon, OBE), will always be remembered for his hugely inspiring best-selling tutorial guitar guides, a major influence on many leading British musicians, such as Eric Clapton, Brian May and Paul McCartney. Weedon placed a lot of emphasis on control of tone, and wanted to make the guitar the star of his music. The style became best known through the music of the Shadows, especially Hank Marvin. As a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats, Weedon was highly active in charity work and fundraising, especially for children and the disabled, and was elected King Rat in 1992. This collection celebrates the music of a supremely talented, versatile guitarist, a master of many styles, a prolific composer and Britain’s first guitar hero.
