Joe inherits a run-down hotel which, with the help of his ex-army chums, he begins to turn around. A couple of unscrupulous property developers try and persuade him to sell it to them, knowing that the land is scheduled for redevelopment and will increase in value. Norman Evans was a variety and radio performer, best remembered for his “Over the Garden Wall” routine, which inspired Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough’s Cissie and Ada characters. Nat Jackley was an English comic actor who starred in revue, variety, film and pantomime. Dan Young was a British comic and actor with a music hall background.
