“The Goodies File” is a comedic compilation presented as evidence gathered by a fictional former employee, Mrs. Edna Tole, who aimed to expose the British comedy trio “The Goodies” and make a million pounds. The book includes humorous correspondence between Mrs. Tole and the publisher, originally Weidenfeld & Nicholson, later changed to Sphere Books in the paperback edition. The book offers a look into the careers of Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden, and Bill Oddie, from their Cambridge days through their post-“Goodies” careers. It’s a collection of their surreal and often absurd sketches and situations from their popular 1970s and early 80s television series.
