THE SHADOWS EP Collection on 1 CD
• 30 TRACKS ON 1 CD • NEW RELEASE FOR 2025 •
The Shadows, (originally known as the Drifters), dominated the British popular music charts in the pre-Beatles era from the late 1950s to the early 1960s. They also performed as the backing band for Cliff Richard from 1958 to 1968. The core members are guitarists Hank Marvin – the first British ‘guitar hero,’ Bruce Welch and drummer Brian Bennett. Former members also include Jet Harris and Tony Meehan. The group spent 894 weeks in the charts with their own hits, including 69 weeks at No.1. They also released 38 hit EPs, 8 of which went to No.1. Their biggest EP was Shadows To The Fore.
This collection features thirty classic SHADOWS’ tracks, drawn from EPs issued in the UK, France and South Africa between 1959 and 62. Tracks include lesser known hits, B-sides, album cuts and EP sides, plus some genuine collectors’ rarities such as the undubbed version of Guitar Tango and Some Are Lonely, from a French EP, which differed from the UK version.
