A young boy buys a goat, believing that it’s a unicorn that will grant his wishes. Carol Reed’s last film for the legendary Alexander Korda and his first in colour. Counter-balancing the story of the boy is the romance of Sonia, (Diana Dors), and her body-building boyfriend Sam, (Joe Robinson), who is involved with a crooked wrestling promoter. A rare example of an Anglo-Jewish film, it was partly shot on location in
Petticoat Lane in London’s East End, in a thriving Jewish community.
